Default my reply to c-rig query

For some reason it won't work on the thread...

Jimmy Houston recently said in an article that Carolina rigging is the closest you can get to not fishing at all.

I usually only use it from shore to learn the bottom of a new body of water.

I bet you couldn't do that versus me. Not on my waters anyway.

I have yet to try the C-rig, wanted to, but the T-rig has worked so I have not changed. Yesterday, a friend was using the C-rig and caught 4, the biggest was a 5 LBer. I used the T-rig and caught 6 and my biggest was 4 LBs. So I guess it is what works for you. I just have a better feel with the T-rig.

In case you're ever getting outfished with the C-rig peg the weight on your T-rig and then you can slide it up 12 to 18 inches to make it a generic C-rig, it can damage the line so don't slide it too often.

Another trick is to slide ur bullet weight up, then attach a small split shot behind it. That way your line is still free to slide through the bullet weight. If you're using line that is easily damaged, cut a 1/2" inch piece of rubber band and pinch between the split shot and the line, then trim the excess.

a carolina rig will catch fish, it's as simple as that. but it is just like anything else, it has it's time and place to be used. a lot of the times when i am fishing a tourny, lets say the water is like glass with no wind and i am starting to panic because the day is getting short and i am in desperate need of some fish to fill a limit. i like to find some deep structure and throw a c-rig. it's far from my favorite way to fish but it has been really good at times for me. usually it won't get you the giant bite we all dream of but it can produce a lot of fish. it is no different than a crankbait or spinnerbait or anyother kind of fishing.....if you don't have any confidence in it, your probably not gonna catch any fish.
