there is no best i dont think. i like bandits, normans, excaliburs, cordells, bagelys, manns... pretty much all of them. just different times different situations different structures.

the two main colors i would go with are shad and firetiger. as 80% of the colors are basicly just differant tones of the same thing.. depth, wiggle is why there is thousands of differant baits in a rainbow of eye catching colors. but when it boils right down to it short of homer and green craw they are about all the same color.

as to the style you have the choice of floater, suspender, countdown, sinker.
also they come in various diving ranges from bulging the surface to digging deep at 30+feet.
there is no "BEST" go out and try differant baits the one that works for you is the one you will like best...

Also crawdad, brown, and don't buy that color in shallow diving patter....you want to be able to keep those within a couple of feet of the bottom if not constantly dragging the bottom.

I have been using Normans alot lately. They have been working well for me on Lake Barkely. Been producing some good fish on secondary points. I have been using a chartruse belly, blue back, and orange throat, especially on overcast days. A shad color has also worked on sunnier days.
