Default Cover For Bass

So im fishing this nearby community pond, and i was fishing the only cover in the water...well this old guy comes over...(im figuring to tell me to go home) well he wets his line about 10 ft. away and asks me why did i choose to fish at tht particular point. so i tell him "its cover for the bass" and he starts telling me that its a manufactured algae egg or sumthin...im like huh? and he tells me its a thing that can be purchased at bass pro. well thats like my home away from home, and of course i have a catalog at home, so i browse to check it out...and sure enough! http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...=SearchResults

You can make the same thing yourself with PVC pipe. We've been dropping PVC, as well as Christmas trees for years now. The PVC is awesome 'cause baits dont get hung up on it, but the Christmas trees seem to have more fish around them.

I heard a retired refrigerator is the best choice!

Only if it's surrounded by old mud tires.

Why pollute the waterways anymore then they already are? Referring to the fridges and tires. Tree's are fine they are natural, PVC last's forever so it's not bad.

ya have a point but tires are cabled togather to make fish habitat this is NOT only done by some local guy. but the nc dnr also makes these and sinks them.. why tires never rot..

I also swear some use tires in shallow water to make spawning habitat (premade beds essentially).

I understand all that, but I feel if God are whoever you believe in wanted to put tires or refrigerators in the makeup of the lake bed they would already be there. Fish will adapt to whatever presents to them for cover, spawning etc. Are job is to find where they are at, not just go to "the old frig Bob dumped last spring and gave the coordinates to everybody." Sorry, kinda of a soapbox here. This time of year the trash and garbage showing up at the boat ramps and the shorelines are pretty disgusting. Could spend most of the day just picking up trash vs. fishing.

Every time I go fishing I bring two trashbags and fill one up on the walk down to my spot, and one up on the walk back. My lake is the worst I have EVER seen. It completely and utterly disgusts me.
