Default Conolon

HAs anybody used the Abu GArcia conolon rod? I was looking at them yesterday at walmart, and they sure looked nice for 35 bucks. Real sensitive looking, blank thru handle, and I do like their reels. Just curious what everybody thought of them.

Save up 15 more dollars, and get the Fenwick Venture. I beleive it is the same blank as the HMX. I love mine.

Tour edition or Tourney Grade? Walmart or elsewhere. I have the Tourney Grade and a Tour Edition. Tourney Grade is decent, but will fatigue you after a couple hundred casts.

i have the tournament grade rod,i like it alot,i use myn for fishing spinnerbaits,i cut 3'' off the tip to make it a 6'3'' medium-heavy rod,and it does what i need it to do. if you catch bass pro shops when they have a sale, they have their tourney special rods for $30,they are pretty good, and they weigh lighter than the conolons, for about the same price.

I used my Tourney grade rod for spinnners as well, then lost them on the hookset. i now use above mentioned fenwick.

I have one. been happy with it for an inexpensive rod. as many as I break I can't afford the pricey ones. I make sure to put on some power pro to make up for sensitivity.

I have a buddy who refuses to spend money on a good rod, but it does not bother him to spend hundreds on junk baits off ebay. He bought a Conolon and he will only use it for spinnerbaits/crankbaits because it has no sensitivity. I have picked it up a few times while waiting on him to load up the truck, boat, etc. and it feels pretty heavy compared to my rods. He doesn't think much of it, and he is the king of cheap rods. Take that for what it's worth.

i wouldn't say it doesn't have any sensitivity. I'll use soft plastics on mine with power pro and can feel bites even with a lot of line out (60 yards+). course it may be a different story with mono, but I wouldn't know, don't throw plastics on mono at all.

WTG, Zook! I taught myself to fish the opposite way this season just to make myself more versatile.
