Default Trolling motor plugs and receptacles

I just upgraded from a 65lb MK to a 80lb MK TM with universal sonar. Got the TM home and found out that my old TM had a 3 prong plug. The new one has a 4 prong plug. My question is this: which should I change out, the plug or the receptacle. Is there a reason the 80lb U/S needs a 4 prong???
Any advice you can offer will be a big help. I don't want to change out the wrong thing and either fry my TM or degrade its capabilities.
Thanks!
