Need some help picking baits for a pond
Ok i have some money to spend and i figured i needed some new baits for the ponds i fish. Here are the conditions...
1.Pond one-maybe an acre in size. I've seen huge fish jump out of there. This pond has just about everything in it. Gets to about 8 feet deep in one part. The pond is full of weeds. Maybe 3 feet of water doesn't have weeds. There is a fallen tree in one part....kind of hard to get to so i wade near it. There are tons of bluegill/pumpkinseed in there and apparently there are perch. Pike and bass it what i want to catch. The edges of the pond have patches of weeds but most of the edges are clear. 2. The second pond is 2-3 times bigger than the other pond, with a couple rocky banks with a big pipe coming out of it. 2 islands in the middle and probably a little deeper than the first pond. I dont think there are pike in this one. We have seen a bass eat a small bird in this pond before so they get big! 3. This pond is HUGE the thing is, it's a ton of small pockets linked through cattails. Huge fish are in here. I dont think this pond has bluegill. a pike coughed up a shad when we caught it so im guessing that's the forage there. There are less weeds and it's more shallow. It's shallow enough that the fish make boils in the water when they move. what kind of baits should i use in here along with techniques on fishing them? Thanks! |
