I believe the Extremes are on sale during the Classic for $59.94 (a $20 savings) I have three of these and love em. I highly recommend them. The one I think you are talking about is the Tournament Pro for $39.94. Its probably OK too... but I've never used one, so I can't say for sure.
If any of you can make it to the Macon BPS this weekend and next, stop by and see me. I'll be there as a rep for Humminbird and Minn-Kota. My good friend Drew "BasserDrew" Gregory will also be there this weekend giving his river bassin seminar. Next weekend he'll be in Atlanta and then the following weekend in Charlotte, NC. Drew shares his knowledge and secrets to catching big river bass. You may have seen his vids on his website www.drewgregory.com this guy is an amazing river basser. If you get a chance to catch his free seminar you should try to see it.

I've also got a couple of the extremes and am very satisfied. However, i was talking with a reel "mechanic" who told me that they are good reels, but BPS usually has 3-5 year contracts with the manufacturer, after the contract the reels are re-engineered making parts very hard to come by.

That don´t mean nothin´, made with low quality standards and/or low quality components means low quality no matter where it was made.

i have 6 extremes and im very pleased.i also think for the money you cant beat em.

but if i was gonna buy a new reel now,i would have to look at bass pro, they have a 20 dollar rebate on the revo s and if you trade a reel during the classic you 20 dollars off, making the revo around 69 dollars.

i have the extreme rod and reels and they both seem to work well enough. I did buy one rick clunn baitcaster, the drag was totally shot for one reason or another after a month. Probably won't be getting another of those.

Bought 2 of BPS Fritts reels this year when on sale. Cast a country mile. Good reels.

I have one extreme and it is an OK reel, but I also own 3 Rick Clunn reels, and love them, they remind me of a big beefed up extreme.

I have a Johnny Morris Signature reel, and it's pretty good. I reall ylove the dual brake system, but the reel could be a bit smaller and lighter.

After doing alot of reading and researching the same question last year, I ended up purchasing a BPS Extreme based on everyones recommendations.....I only got to fish with it a few times before winter set in, but I was real happy with its performance....I can't wait to give it a good testing this year, but from what i've seen of it so far i'm sure i'll acquire a couple more before its said and done.
