Cold Water Bass
What are good lures for catching cold water bass?

Depends on what cold is to you. Jigs are great, suspending jerkbaits, slow rolled spinnerbaits and a few others but water temp plays a key role in some lure options

Jigs first with crawfish imitating soft plastics as seconds. But for the most part jigs work the best. Fish eat the same in cold water as they do in warm water.....but just not as much due to their slower metabolic rates.
Basically no matter what the water temperature they will only eat as much as their metabolism requires. But there are exceptions. With jigs representing a crawfish this gives a high protein feeding opportunity for a hungry bass. Less energy is spent pursuing and eating one high protein food source as opposed to three seperate pursuits of three lesser protein food sources. |
