No big sales ??
I figured for sure after christmas there would be some good sales. I never seen one really good deal. Awhile back I seen alot of great deals at Cabella's website and took advantage , however that was the last great deals I have seen in awhile.

IF you live near a Dick's Sporting Goods, get in there fast as you can. Lots of stuff marked way down with another 50% off lures with prices ending in either .93 or .97. I bought a bunch of YUM products there for $1.48 a bag. They had Rapalas, LC cranks, and other items. By now they're picked like a turkey at Thanksgiving but you might still find some goodies.

I was hoping someone would have a 20% off sale like TWH has before this summer. I did find out they only have it once a year. I'll keep looking.

Unless I missed it, our Gander Mnt didn't have much of any sales either.

February and March are usually the best "spring" sale times....the retailers wait until you get your tax refund back. January is time for the bait monkey to make his list of wants/needs so he can spend that big check

I just got a sale flyer from BPS and there are a few good deals in there but nothing to make me leap off my chair. I agree with the above comments on Feb and March being the sale months to watch for. Everyone is recovering from the holidays and the stores know this. And Tim right on about the tax refund issue.

Bass Pro's Spring Fishing Classic (i think that's the title) is a pretty big event. I went last year in Vegas. Planning on hitting the Michigan location this year

Mal, you might want to check out Lunkers also, they have a huge sale the first weekend in March every year.

right now, the biggest sales are on clearance items. You will see several locations trying to get rid of their Christmas inventory to restock with new items or in some cases to hold off for 2011 models of stuff.
I think the biggest sales actually happen early to mid summer and go hand in hand with ICAST. That's when we will see all the new stuff and the older stuff will simply take of shelf space to many retailers.

I ventured out to our local Dick's Sporting Goods Today in hopes that they had added a few items to their blowout sale. Low and behold, I went to the case that they use to hold the few upper end reels that they sell, and what did I see. The Daiwa Viento, 126 dollars with 50% off. I'm thinking 60-65 dollars is not a bad price for this reel, let me go ahead and get one. When the sales associate took the reel from the case there was another tag on the bottom of the reel that said 97 dollars. I ended up getting the reel for 48 dollars.
Once I got the reel home I had a chance to check it out a bit, it is a descent reel, I feel sorry for anyone who purchased these reels anywhere near the 200 dollar original price tag, but for what I paid for it, I think it will be fine. Long story short, check out your Local D.S.G. |

Not much else on sale, they had a few St. Croix Premier rods for sale at 40 ea., but they were short rods with strange actions and powers. They had a Cuda fishfinder, forget the model, and a bunch of Rapala baits, and a few other odds and ends but no real high end reels or anything that would be of much interest to seasoned anglers.

They position these sales close to the time the first tax rebate checks come in, pay attention to your favorites around the second Week Of Feb. on

I got the email for the PBS annual clearance sale today. Haven't checked out the stuff yet, hoping or maybe I shouldn't that there is something worthwhile in there.
