Crankbait rod?

All right, so I've now got a specific reel for cranks, I still need a rod for them, right now I've got a BPS Tourney special rod on it.. 7'. But I'd like something better, and more for cranks. I plan on just getting the rod off e-bay since I don't have much money right now, and don't wanna spend more then 40, or 50 bucks. Right now I've pretty much got it down it these: BPS crankin stick 2010 model. American Rod Smiths David Fritts Crankin Rod, Shimano Voltus, Skeet Reese S-glass rod, TD-S crankin rod, St. Croix Premier Glass crankbait rod, and Browning Silaflex. I know, pretty much all of 'em. Which one you guys think, remember, e-bay rod.

I have the BPS Crankin Stick, found last years model for $30 at the local BPS. I seem to like it so far... it is not a loomis, but neither is the price.

I say bps crankin stick.I have a couple and I really like them.

While I prefer a graphite rod, of those, (having not used any of them), I'd say the the Skeet Reese S-glass.

Of all of them that I've held (all except the browning and the St. Croix) it seemed to be the lightest. The AR and BPS rods were both fairly heavy. So the Voltaeus or the Daiwa S series would be my second choice.

I couldn't buy a graphite crankbait rod for what I built mine for. While I was looking for a crankbait rod, I did look at the Loomis crankbait rods (and their blanks) and didn't care for them too much as a crankbait rod.

You may also want to check out the Shimano Compre crankbait rods. I've got a buddy who's selling his for $80 if you're interested I could let him know, and give him your email. By the way, I doubt you'll be able to find one of those rods on ebay for $40-50 after shipping. But one advice on ebay, just keep looking cause you'll eventually find a good deal.

Wish this thread woulda been up a couple weeks ago. I coulda got you a Daiwa S for $39 plus shipping and tax.
Have you checked out the Voltaeus rods, boss?
I did, and I was really unimpressed. They felt like absolute junk to me.

They were meant to compete with rods in the Ugly Stick class, and in that respect, I think they are the best. But when comparing to even the Shimano Clarus, they aren't that good of a bass rod.

Falcon Cranker - Best Cranking rod I've found. 6'-6". I'v had this rod for 10 years, and it still performs like the day I got it. I think you can still get these for around $60.

Ya, thanks alot guys! I try to get Skeet Reese S-glass rod, or the compre (Didin't see that one in the catalog). I my sell my lightning rod and bionic blade to get an extra 20, 30 bucks. I've handled the Skeet rod and love feel, but have not handled the compre.

I hope it don't take too long to find a good deal, 'cause it's warming up!

Bassboss I have a St Croix crank rod. Try one out before buying any of the others. It's a pretty nice rod for the money.

You know, guys, I quit worrying about all the "technique specific" rods a while back. I've got 6 crankbait rods. All but one is a 6-6 M action. the other is a 7' MH I use for big bruisers like a Series 5 or DD-22. All work just fine.

Rebbasser-- What is you're 7' MH? I've got an avid crankin stick that is too light for dd22's--- it's also a 7 ft mh. My buddy has a compre that he really likes...

Brauer, it is a Falcon Cara 7-3 Deep Runner, designed for those big bruisers like a DD-22. Found it on clearance, otherwise I probably would not have bought it.

The only one i've used out of the ones you've mentioned are the St. Croix. I've got several in varying lengths and power. I like them all for what I use them for. You really can't go wrong with a st. croix if you can find one in the price range your looking for.

I have a BPS Crankin Stick and really like it, mine's the 7' ML. I'm pretty sure it's all graphite though I can go check. I keep hearing good things about the Browning Silaflex but BPS didn't have any 7' rods in stock when I went shopping last year and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket.
