Matts Lures
I orderd a baby bass and a bluegill from Matts Lures. I can't wait to try these two lures. Anyone use them? The bluegill sits on ther bottom with its' head down. Thought about getting the trout but I'll see how these do.

They both work real good, Bob. I have caught bass on both and can definately say they work. Just remember to sweep the hookset and not jerk it.

the bass is a killer. I have caught 1 pound bass and 6 pound bass on the baby bass bait. For bluegill, I just use the Storm Swimbaits... work almost the same IMO.

Are they too heavy to fish on 6'6" MH spinning rod? Should I wait till I get a flipping stick too get these?

Vabass, I would think a bait casting rod would handle these baits better. I am looking into getting a rod built by G Blank Custon Rods as mentioned by pig and jig in another post. Before I started using baitcasters I used braid on my spinning rods. That might be the ticket. Although I need to find out if that is what they pitch these swim baits with, braided line that is.

If you are going to enter into the swimbait wagon get a rod, there are a bunch of 1 - 1 1/2 oz baits you can fish with a flipping stick but ( and thatīs a big BUT ) you wonīt be able to fish with bigger/heavier baits, those weight anywhere between 2 -6 oz ( like Huds ). Swimbaits work, you are not going to catch a 10 pounder on every cast but the average 4 + pounder will pounce on them and with hybrid and hard 5 -6 " swimbaits this is specially true, you catch a lot of 1-2 pounders with those types. |

I was just wondering, because I'm not going to get a swimbait rod, because most of the areas I fish, arent suited for swimbaits at all. Maybe when I get my pitchin' stick I'll buy one.
The only good 'casters I have right now are m, and a short mh....

Not caught anything on the bass I have from him, i've gotta get over the 'West Coast' swimbait thing, and give it more of a chance!
I sent Lizards a Bluegill I made, i'll let him catcha hog on it, then my confidence will go way up |

Well, alright, this time! I'd love to see how he rigs it, i've got some ideas, using a larger screw lock hook like I sent you, but I think it's gonna need some weight, or salt to keep it down.

This about as dreamy as it gets where I live. The Yellow perch fish is forage for just about everything that is big enough to eat them.
Bassin Bob, it is difficult to find a better rod than a G Blank rod, most cannot compare once you throw the price in the mix. P N J |

P N J I should have gotten the perch too. We'll see how things go with the bluegill and baby bass. I got them two days after I placed the order. They look like they will do the trick.
