Quick: Limited money, Multiple needs... help we out!

Well, lo and behold, I only got 80 bucks the year for x-mas, and I have a few different needs that need to met. More or less I'd like a new rod (vendetta). But if I do that, than I don't get tackle, lures, hook and what not, something that we need, my tackle bag is looking a little lonely. Nor will I be able to get a new reel (one of the lesser needs).

So, what do you guys think I should be, replace my current rod with a vendetta (my old one was a cabalas XML 6'6" jig/worm, a little stiff, but I got my), and drain (for lack of a better word) all my money there.

Or should I keep my rod and send my reel here, http://www.proreelservice.com/Services.html
Or a super tune/cleaning, and get tackle (lures, and terminal tackle).

So what do you guys think?

Personally, I don;t know why you're replacing a rod. I'd be adding ANOTHER rod to my arsenal, not replacing one, especially one as good as the XML.

If my choices were new rod (not to replace one) or tackle, I'd go new rod. But if the choices are Vendetta to replace and XML or tackle, definately tackle. Also, I'd save the money and clean you reels yourself.

I think I probably will go with the tackle.

btw, I have to stuff to clear my reels, I just don't trust myself to put them back right, or keep track of all the pieces.

Learning to clean your reels yourself is something that needs to be learned right off that bat to make sure your equipment can perform at it's top level. Go find someone that know's how to do it and take some tips from them. If you plan on fishing for years to come, proper maintenence is a must have!

I would buy the large ticket item now while you have the money. The other stuff can be picked up along the way, one piece at a time. If you blow your rod money now it might be awhile before you can afford one again anytime soon.

Bassboss, here is a little trick I learned to help when taking machinery apart (something I love to do).

Download a schematic for your reel. This will usually be in .pdf format. If you can, print it out double-sized.

As you take apart your reel, lay each part on the drawing, in the appropriate place. Pay special attention to the direction certain washers and nuts are facing. If your schematic is isometric (sort of 3D), just make sure the face showing in the drawing is the face that's facing up on your real-world part.

After everything is cleaned up nice, you should have no problem at all putting it back together.

Schematics usually come with the reel when you buy it. Usually, but not always. But I guess double-sized can always be better lol.

But anyways I would probably go with the terminal stuff. Get what you need now and then things you want later is my philosophy. Unless there is the absolute necesity of replacing the rod, I would definitley go with the tackle.

I got the tackle and line rather than the rod.

btw, when I first got me reel it had skmats, but in left them in a box on the porch and my mom through it away!

So, I'd have to get some line.

When I break a reel apart for the first time, I take pictures of every step or two. Then I re-assemble it in front of the computer to make sure I put it back together correctly.
