Default Ebay question

On ebay there are items marked with a price to sell for a certain amount or best offer. For instance a rod for $179 buy now or best offer. Has anybody made an offer to an add like this and won the item? How much could someone lower their best offer without overdoing it?

I did it on a Loomis shirt about 20% less the best I remember. I have bought several rods on ebay. Got some really good deals but check out seller. Simmons has finwick techna av for 99.00.

My best ebay "make an offer" scores were some Legend Extreme rods which I made offers around $200, and finally ended up getting for around $240 each. Rods which varied between $360 and $400. Don't be afraid to offer low. All they can say is "no". In fact, many of them already have unstated minimums, whereupon making your offer, will instantly tell you it's too low. You usually get three tries to get within their "reasonable" price range before you can't bid any more.

Like nofear said, offer them less than you want to pay for it. They can accept, say no, or come back with an offer. I think, also like nofear said, that you can offer like three times.

That works providing no one bids on it,if one item and if its not near what they expect will wait till item ends as many will wait till near finishing to bid.
Tro4 prop as new 110 dollars inc shipping, seller didnt know what he had, used re3 mazco 13 spline 23 p-63 dollars-no one bid on it,in that case asked what they wanted or would take for it as the entry level price was higher.
New kistler frog and slop special heavy action-89 bucks, carrot stix med heavy-105 inc shipping
Have also lost as my offer wasnt enough or someone came along and paid the price.

Haha, I have actually had a couple people write me nasty messages, my low offer ticked them off so bad. I usually turn it into a successful offer, after I come back at them as "Mr. Reasonable." It's kind of fun.

Well I did it. I won (bought) a Kistler MagMGBSB80H 8 ft swimbait rod. I tried a auction and lost. Then I saw the same rod in another auction for $189.00 Buy Now or Best Offer. I figured what have I got to lose so I made an offer of $80.00 and got it. It was from Simmons. It is an 09 but brand new. I lost the other rod at a price of $81.00 so I figured to try $80.00. I think I got a decent deal. Thanks for the help.
