Good Luck Sammy. That video even gives old men chills. Thanks for posting it. High school football, it doesn't get any better.

Good to hear. Make sure you find a way to protect the wrist!!!! Tape and padding recommended. Also if you haven't been playing you'll need to get into game condition before you play!!! Don't need you getting hurt your first day back......been there and seen it.

smitty......isn't there a brace you can get that still allows you to play after such and injury? if so, tell bossbud about it so maybe he can get one.

Thanks guys. I'll ask the doc about it, see if he know anything.

I may also keep the cast on just for extra protection til the end of the season (Oct 17th is our last game). I'll probably wrap it the cast in an ace bandage or something so it softer as well.

Ace bandage won't work. Has to be at least 1/2" padding (at least in VA) over the cast or any hard material. Probably the same with NHSFA (National High School Football). Officials will inspect it before you are allowed to play. You may need doc's note too. Check with coaches and doc.

Most good wrist braces have 1-2" wide metal strip on the palm side. This would work with 1/2" padding as well.

Congrats to you Boss. We had a linebacker break his hand in HS. They covered his clubbed hand and we thought he killed some kid when he hit him with it. He was out like a light for a while and the refs ejected him from the game. It wasn't but 20 years ago, but I am sure the rules have changed like 3D said.

Typically the Ref will give the player a warning before the game about using the casted arm as a club and will eject a player if they feel that it is being used in this manner.

Well this sucks...

Doc faxed over a new Sports restriction today saying I cant play... man o man was coach disappointed. Only good side I can see is it could mean a week or so sorter I'll have the cast on, and be able to start working out again.

Going back the 10th, hopefully I'll be able to play or last game the 14th.

That's a bummer Sammy. Keep your head up though, you will get it off and be back to working out before long.

Yeah, really looking forward to it. Got some more competition for varsity line, with a new guy that came late this season, and is gonna play next. He's a big burly fella, 6'3" ish 240 ish, and looks pretty good. Gonna work/train all off season, and as part of my dad's work benefits, I get a free sports trainer at a gym of my choice! Hoping to get ahead of the competition, and maybe move to left tackle instead of right!
