Default birth defect?

Got on some buzzbait hungry fish this morning and caught this one that either survived a horrific injury as a fry or had some kind of congenital birth defect or ? Hard to appreciate in this pic but he had a broken spine or something right at the beginning of his dorsal....looked freakishly humpbacked. Nothing to brag about really, just odd.

FWIW Water temps around here 74 @ dawn....I don't mind saying I'm looking forward to the next 6 weeks or so!

Hmm the most often seen defect Ive seen is tail to close to nose. That is cooler temp of water than I have im envious.
I have seen like a bend or crook in near tail and behind the dorsal fin its a defect, and also where a heron squeezed and they got away but both sides. The oddest one is a spike that sticks out from mouth letting a 13 in fish measure 15,seen that one twice in same day, never since.

Humpy backs.....we get them all the time on the river. Don't know if it's a defect or an injury but will ask one of the Game and Fish Biologists the next time I see him.

We get them often and I was told from a Bio-olig-ist it is from osprey strikes.
