Ribbit...Ribbit
Any advice on how, where, and when to use a frog lure?
Thanks

See Reb's post on message boards. There is a very good article on the horny toad which you can apply to the ribbit. Something that suprised me is using a 3/0 superline hook for better hookups on the horny toad. Also weigh the bait so when the bass strike up at it , the bait doesn't blow up away from the bass. The when for me is arounfd late may. I mostly throw them into any cover I can find.

I believe this subject has been covered in detail in the past. Use the Search feature but let me give you the highlights.
1) Long heavy rods and braided line do the trick. 2) Fish them over anything, normally grass or pads, but they work over open water too. Capt. Mike likes to swim his underwater. 3) Hook size is up to you but most use 4/0 EWG. Some like the superline hooks. 4) Favorites: Some like the floating rubber frogs and others like the solid plastic frogs. Some use both. Which brands? Try a couple and see which work best for you. Colors? Once again, try a few and see what works. |

Frogs are working well here. Caught a 25 inch bass on a plastic popping frog Saturday in the pond in my backyard and smaller ones blew up on it but wasn't able to hook up.
