Question What fish finder to buy?

Hi,

after bying my boat, I've decided to also buy a fish finder, since the bass are on their move to the deeper water. The roblem is, I don't know which model/brand to select. I'm paying a maximum of $200.

Can any of you folks give me a hand?

thanks,

seaphantom

I believe Eagle has a fishfinder/waypoint system for under $200.00 It could be handy to be able to mark where your catching alot of fish. P N J

Anyone of these three. We use this type of model on our boat and we go deep deep like hundreds of feet and have no trouble.

You may want to consider a wide angle finder with a cone of 60 degrees.....will pick up more structure with each pass of your boat.

I have a Humminbird 565 that I like a lot.

I would save your money and buy a better one that allows more control of greyline, range, range increments, sensitivity. Also preferable to get one that displays like a paper graph....IMO.

umm stumps i duck hunt the lower chowan river and the lower gator river. lower as in the marle sound area.-durant island- i use the depth finder for 2 things. 1 finding the hump from dregding spoil. and 2 lets me figure out how deep it is.. mostly use 50 foot mother lines on my diver rig..

Zooker! I'm not a duck hunter and was just pulling your leg about the duck finder. Have you duck hunted Lake Mattamuskeet? Not too far from where from the lower gattor. My friend says it some good duck hunting,if you're ever there, you oughta give it a try. They tell me there are some good bass in there too. Too much junk in for me. What I mean by that is, it's an old flooded farm with lots of old farming equipment laying around, not verry deep. Must be thousands of acres.

Why is it that nobody ever reccomends our sponsors from this site. The prices are just as good, and everything you can think of. Usually they will give a discount since you are a member here, try "Three Rivers Marine" I emailed back and forth with the owner quite a bit, and he went out of his way to help me. Give him a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Hey, Lizards, They got Kistler rods advertised on this site. Be sure to check them out, I hear really good things about their rods. I personally can't afford them , but I know you can. P N J

LMAO, you are still paying attention aren't you You know I won't buy another one, but I have stated before, if I buy a brand of rod I don't already have, I must hold it before I buy it. Now if they sell St Croix, or G-Loomis, or Rogue Rods on the site, I would be more than happy to order those whenever I buy another one. But I'm too poor from this year to think about buying another one now, plus I have too many rods, and have actually been donating some to family as it is.

You and me both, Lizards. I picked up a Kistler several months back at Cabelas and didn't like the handle. Thank goodness for small favors

Addressing the original question-I have 2 Humminbird 565s. Both have done a good job. Thinking about upgrading, though, to something different.
