Question Flukes.

Hi,

I've never really dealt with fluke fishing before and decided to try it out. I tried to look up info. on how to do it, but haven't found a sufficient answer.

How to successfuly fish with one?

thanks,

I like the zoom fluke with a 3/0 or 4/0 Gammy EWG hook. 4/0 will add a little weight and take the bait down a tad faster. 3/0 for a slower decent. When rigging remember with the zoom you want the bend of the hook to sit inside the belly flaps on the bottom of the bait. Some rig it with a swivel and leader to reduce line twist. I've read this alters the action but I prefer this set-up. Cast it out and experiment with speed. Flukes can be worked in all depths. Try a few twitches and pause. I've done well dead sticking a fluke on the bottom when the bite is slow. Sometimes they want it worked fast, sometimes slow will produce better. It's perfect for fishing cover when shad are around. Don't forget to watch your line for subtle hits but don't be surprised if a fish tries to rip the rod out of your hands. Just like with top water lures don't set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish. Good luck.

fish them weightless ro with a small split shot if you want them to sink.I fish most of mine on 2/0 wide gape hooks, the wide gap puts alittle weight below the lure and keeps it from twisting. The action will also be determined by how far back you go before coming out the bottom of the lure.Their a great lure and are very versatile.Good luck

Seaphantom, rig it weedless, no weight, and throw it around cover. Work it with quick jerks of the rod tip. Outstanding soft plastic jerkbait.

Well you need to go to the search button, and type in Flukes, there will probably be 1000 posts pop-up. Here's a link to a post about Zoom super flukes, that has some decent info in it. BTW it was about 10 posts down
