Rip Rap Bassin?

I am going to a new reservoir tomorrow, and was just wondering what to fish? There is a bunch of rip rap banks, and i was told by a dozen or so people there that there are tons of lm bass here. What should i try when fishing the rip rap? The water is a medium clarity. Shore Fishing. The res. is about 100 acres. Any tips or pointers?

Shore fishing-spinnerbait, crankbait, weightless soft plastic fished parallel to the riprap. A topwater would be worth a shot, too.

rip rap is great fishing bass tend to move around on it during the day. i belive the sun light has some thing to do with it.

to bad your not in a boat.deep cranks worked over rip rap almost always get smacked.fishing from shore i would try shalower cranks and cast parallel to the rip rap.if you get stuck just let it float back up.spinnerbaits are aslo good because you can control the depth.try to stay in contact with the rocks.

Tubes in browns and greens, also try swimming a white tube occasionally. On the darker tubes, try to maintain frequent contact with the bottom (rip rap)......

I have lots of luck with spinnerbaits fishing rip-rap. Chunk it as far as you can paralleling the rip-rap and and experiment with retrieve speeds. You also might want to cast into the wind or up current since the bass will be facing the current. Hope our advice helps, if you catch some let us know, try to snap a few photos for us. Good luck!

Rip Rap banks can be very productive at times especially in areas where they end at a bridge. It may be a good idea to work them paralell instead of shallow to deep. Also watch for irregular formations in thier length. Often there are underwater points that run from them. These can be migration routes or ambush points.A good number of lures can be used, many of which have been mentioned her earlier. Since this is a new lake to you and it is fall you may want to lend some attention to creek areas. If there are creeks with rip-rap that is a good place to crank. Good luck , Fish2win

Bomber "B" crawdad colored crankbait, or a T-rigged Baby Paca Craw with little weight to keep from getting hung up so much, even weightless isn't bad.

I'd agree with the bomber crawdad brown in any size, plus tube jig, moss green with brown, and spinnerbait paralell to the shore

well i tried spinnerbaiting the shore almost all day, and when i found a small pocket of weeds, so i threw a small white spinnerbait, and wham i saw him swirl up and inhale the bait, so i set the hook hard, and it ended up weighing 4.2 lbs! Only one fish, but i still think ill be going back, its only 30 min from my house.

Awesome! Catching one 4 pounder is better than catching four 1 pounders any day!

I fish from the bank so I would throw a finese worm on a jig or shakeyhead rig pretty simple to the rip rap or a senko. Both have been really productive. A small shallow crank or buzzbait also gets the knod.
