around 2.40

dont worry tho Im sure it'll be back up to 3.50+ by springtime. Opec is working hard on getting them prices back up quickly. A quarter without record profits for all involved in the Oil industry would be bad for buisness.

What I really like is how they are saying now that the oil prices are bad for the economy.
The single thing that has had the most impact on regular americans is oil prices, now that oil is finally down to a somewhat reasonalbe ( I'd prefer the 99C gallons of gas again myself) price, some of the burden has been lifted, and their telling us its bad for the economy.

If thats the case I wish the economy would take a dump like a polar bear, It'll be hard to convince me that cheaper gas is a bad thing.

Here's the really crappy part. The fact that the price for a barrel of oil has dropped so drastically in four months is proof that the high prices we were paying were NOT due to supply/demand market forces but purely due to our own greed and the many speculators that were drunk with money driving the price of oil up to $140/barrel. While we all suffered and paid $4/gallon for gasoline, the speculator's were lining their pockets with our money. It wasn't OPEC. It wasn't China. It wasn't the nasty Oil Companies. They were certainly along for the ride, but the catalyst was our own greedy bretheren.

I agree with you rob, but I also lay some blame on OPEC. They got used to those high prices and want them back now. They also would not increase production by a large enough amount to help anything, but they sure will reduce production to bring the prices back up quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Certainly they are not immune to some blame. And while I welcome the relief in gas prices, I hope it doesn't reduce the swell of demand for alternative energy. I hope I see the day that we can thumb our nose at OPEC before I'm 6' under.

I think the speculators have been made to look real bad considering the how gas/oil has gone down.

Wonder why they drove it up so much? Did they get tired of buying gold? Did they figure oil had such an intrinsic value that it had to be a good investment? It seems we are seeing bubble after bubble burst. I say good to that.

Funny thing about Saudi is it's hot and dry. I say we let em try and eat oil and sand for a little bit, see if oil won't come down.

And if gas hits 5, I'm biking to Washington, and raisin cain until somethin happens.

Saudi used to be hot and dry. Now they have indoor ski resorts in the middle of the desert thanks to all our money.
