Shakey-Head Rig

Hey guys, most of you may not know, but there is a show called "The Next Generation" on the Outdoor Channel. It is a show where teenagers show other teens how to fish, hunt, and successfully perform in the outdoors. Whilst watching this show one day, one of the girls on the show showed how to fish with a shakey-head rig. So, after watching the rest of the program, I went out to the stream behind our house just to see how the rig looked in the water, even though there are no bass in that stream. The problem I had was that I could not figue out how to put the worm on the jig without having a small, sort of "hump" in the worm. Could one of you friendly fellas' on the forum please tell me how to thread the rubber worm on the jig correctly, without having a "hump" in the worm. Am I maybe using the wrong jig? All I'm using is your basic perch or walleye lead-head jig. Is this not the right kind of jig? Could you maybe post a picture of a shakey-head rig you personally use?

If you arent fishing grass or other structure cover of the such dont weedless rig it, simply thread the worm on there hook exposed.

Now if it needs to be weedless, I like a jig head like so:



The screw device allows a straight weedless worm.

You can also rig a few other ways:

when you are using a regular jig head instead of the kind where you run the worm up a screw or whatever the case may be ( a regular jig head will work just fine). you have to bring the point of the hook out of the worm a lot sooner that if you were rigging a plastic worm on a wide gap worm hook. basically, just run the hook about 1/8" in before you bring it back out and that should help.
