Buying a used boat
I am loking at a 1998 Triton TR18 from original owner. He's asking 8000, boat appears to be in very good condition and well maintained. Is this a fair price and what should I look for?

What kind/year/model/Hp/ motor is on it? I'm guessing a 150 Merc?

I think it's a little high unless it in pristine condition. Have the outboard checked by a mechanic - a compression test is a must. Check the springs on the trailer - '98 I think was the first Triton and the early trailers had a mono-spring. Triton provided multi-leaf springs under recall. The mono-spring was prone to breakage. Make sure all the pumps work for the livewell, bilge and if your boat has the livewell pumpout those also. Check all lights - trailer and boat. Anything not working the seller should fix or negotiate the price and/or at least be aware of anything you'll need to fix. Nothing is worse than getting a boat home, then finding our what isn't working and then having to fix it. Check age of the batteries also. If they are wet cells take a hydrometer along and check each cell. Look for rust on the trailer - the early tube trailers tend to rust from the inside, poke all the low points in the cross members with a screwdriver.
