Any suggestions? Getting rid of the 17 ft lowe. To darn heavy. Served it's purpose in a time when i did'nt have money or boat.

Go to a kayak distributer and try out a bunch.

They usually have demo days you can paddle them.

First, make a decision if you want a SINK (sit in kayak) or a SOT (sit on top)

Then determine the water's you be fishing and get an appropriate one.

Lastly make sure you fit in it.

In a world where mariners have been thrown in the ocean for being "jonahs", boats have been named to ward off evil spirits and bananas have been outlawed, I find it downright improbible that there is an acronym for any type of vessel such as a S.I.N.K.

Someone might as well name their bass boat the edmund fitzgerald or lusitania.

I highly recommend a sit on top. If you're fishing in rivers like I do... look for a yak that you can turn easy, like an Ocean Kayak Drifter (to avoid rocks, stumps, etc... in current). If you will be fishing on ponds/lakes you will need one that is faster and tracks better (due to more paddling) like a OK Prowler 13 or a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120. If stability is your main concern, the OK Big Game or WS Ride 135 are both good choices.
Whatever you do try to "test drive" before you buy if possible. You're gonna love it. Good Luck.

I have seen these at shows and if I was in the market I would take a look at them: www.freedomhawkkayaks.com
I've never fished from a kayak, but I have from a canoe and they get pretty tipsy when you stand up. This looks like a good idea.

I'm going with the Trident at BPS this spring. Hey did you look that the price of that freedom yak. You could buy a boat at that price.
