Odds of the Bass dying???
Last year i hooked into a big bass about 7 plus by the way he felt. i was using 10lb line and fishing with a crankbait. (the crank was about 3-3 1/2 inches but fat.) the bass got to the boat my dad did not get it netted and it went right back down, then the line snapped. man it sucked that i missed the fish, but more that the it was big and probley died, this was at the family pond. did not hear anything of a dead bass on top of the water. but what do you think the odds are that it died, or do you think it shook the lure some how? just wondering, lol it could have been Bubba my 7 pounder i cought when i was 7 who knows.

no,he probably didnt die. the bass probably shook it like you said. the only time that bass die from us anglers is when they get wrapped around old line, gut hooked really deeply, and when we have them out of the water too long.

a bass can shake a crankbait loose quite easily more so if there is slack line..
i have only stone killed 1 bass that was on a horny toad i must have drilled it dead smack in the brain with a 4/0 ewg hook.... zooker

I bet its still alive too...most of the bass I've seen croak are in the live well and its really hot out, or catching them in super deep water and bringing it up fast...From my experiences,
99% of the dead ones tho are from lack of oxygen and being in the live well... |

thanks guys, but do you think it could live with it, as far say it is stuck in his face, ya think it would still eat, and do everything else. not that this matters, it happened a year ago, lol but the pond had a big fish kill years back and most of the fish are 2-3 pounds, had some good 4-5 this year but would like there to still be a lunker 6-7-8 PLUS.
