Shakey Head Rig
I DID use the search bar...
I'll be fishing water that has about 8-10 foot visiblity. I wan't to try a shakey rig. I was thinking of a Zoom "Finesse" Trick Worm in Watermelon Red-Flake. I just need help with the head. I'll be fishing anywhere from 1-10 feet deep. Sight Fishing. What jig-heads would you recommend? One that sits with the hook pointed up? Could you recommend some specific ones? Thanks |

Joolz, just about any jighead will work, but I like Spot Remover:
Because the worm is held in place by the screw-like protrusion. If you want to go with a regular ball-type jighead I use something like this: Notice the eye-it is at a 60 degree angle rather than 90 and it is perpendicular rather than parallel to the hook point. These type jigheads are designed for shakey head fishing. The angle allows for a better hookset. The finesse worm is a good choice. WM red is good choice, and so is green pumpkin. Yesterday I fished a cotton candy color due to sunny skies and clear water. One thing to remember is to slowly drag, not lift the bait. You want it to look like something crawling along the bottom feeding. I like a stand up jighead, so the Spot Remover is my jighead of choice.

Thanks a lot Reb. Tomorrow will be my last chance to fish at that lake I always post about, because the people there are moving. I was hoping to buy the stuff tonight to try it out there tomorrow, because I have a feeling it will catch lots. But I didn't get a chance. I do have a regular ball jighead for curly tail grubs and some white full-sized trick worms. I'll try it out.

hookerz makes great shakey heads.the keeper swings sideways so threading the bait is easy.the hooks are also bigger than most and i guarantee they are sharper.

I am looking forward to using this tactic this year.
Here is a good article covering a lot of it: http://bfl.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=145666 |
