Electronics Question
Hey guys, Been busy lately with tournaments and my day job!
My front graph went out on me. I"m not sure if it's the graph or if it's electrical in nature. I have 18 ft. fiberglass boat with Lowrance LCX-15 on the console and my front graph is just an Eagle Ultra Classic. Can anyone tell me how to trouble shoot this problem. I'd like to "do-it-myself" but not sure where to start looking. Also, on one occassion a couple weeks back, my console unit started flash the same depth (i.e. 1.5ft) for about an hour and then kicked back in. Thanks for any help guys.

18 foot fiber glass boat is vague. check the plug in. make sure it is getting power, if not check the fuses. most boats bring in a hot and neg wire to the fuse block then run it to the front..yeah i know not easy to get in /out/thru/or around under the front deck..

What zooker said. As far as the flashing strange depths, check the placement of the transducer, I leave mine very loose, and it'll swing up, but that's better than a broken one.
if you see any corrosion on the contacts to the unit, clean that off with a toothbrush and some Coke, then try it again. |

Thanks for the helpful words boys. I'll take both bits of advice and put them to use tomorrow during inital troubleshooting. I'll be sure to share findings and possibly develop more questions.
Zooker I think the part about getting under and around the front deck could make things interesting.

is it a flush mount? the entire fake wood like panel should come off.. i hate working under decks. have to pull the compartment containers up and all that crap it sucks... of course i swear that boat companies hire midgets to do the install work..

Not a flush mount, but does run into a hole where a flush mount would be. I'm thinking the deck has to come up. I was thinking of upgrading that unit in front anyways. I might wait until the offseason and just have someone with the know-how do it. It's just that I have one tourney left and I was hoping to fish breaklines for Fall transition fish. It's nice to use two units when doing that.
Marker buoys here I come. Or rather, shallow water here I come.
