Rebuilding a tackle bag
My oldest daughter has a boyfriend who has the worst luck at times. His room mate left the garage open and thieves stole all his tackle. He had collected lures given to him over many years and a few fishing rods. For XMas I have started rebuilding a tackle bag and bought him a fishing rod. Have another for him once I find a proper reel.
The long and short is I am only stocking it with stuff that works around here. Mostly soft plastics since the Potomac is a plastic river with a few exceptions. I have so many spare lures my tackle locker it will hardly feel the purge. May need to show him how to rig and tie. Perhaps a few research trips are needed. Capt Mike

I would say "good luck" but, seeing as how you guide, I don't think luck will play into it. I am sure the boyfriend ... and possibly the daughter ... will appreciate a couple of educational trips on the water.

He has the worst luck by no fault of his own..BTW his last name is Murphy..
Go figure. He bought a car from a dealer that was certified used. He was driving it on a hot sunny day and the air bags all deployed. Dang near knocked him out. Drove it back to dealer and the dealer lost his paperwork on the investigation why they deployed. Insurance company totaled the car at 4 k less than he just paid. Two months old, so for a year he had to make payments on a car he could not drive. The insurance paid out the claim and took the car to the junk yard. The dealer had an expert come in from GM to figure why the bags deployed and the car was gone.. Murphy's law. Capt Mike

Well I gave him about 40 baits and hooks, weights, rigs, and a large assortment of soft baits. A nice Berkly Lightning spinning rod with ABU Cardinal reel also. Tackle box and about about three kits like senko, frog, and lizard. Half dozen spinnerbaits. He loved it.

Can't I date your daughter for a week or two? Or you can just pretend I have been? And, oh, all my gear got stolen ... dad!

Most of the hard baits and half of the soft baits where from my stash. I was telling Capt Dave my tackle box could puke up two full tackle boxes and I would not even miss the tackle. In fact last year I went from three to just one really big tackle bag.
Plano Hydroflow. Now to work on my salt water boxes. Maybe another Hydroflow is in order. Capt Mike
