Default Shallow lake methods...

Hello all, Just registered here. Looks like a GREAT site. I have fished since I was a little kid, and have fished for just about anything I could get to bite at one time or another. I have never really gotten too into the technical aspects, just kept it simple and enjoyed my time on the lake/river. Here is the current question on my mind....

While I have been working on getting my motor running right I have been fishing a small to medium sized that that only has one small hole that is more than 12 ft deep. I am originally from up north so I have been having to learn a few new tricks since I have moved to FL. I know the location of quite a few bass....probably between 8 and 10 ft (Near the top of the weeds growing there, with the bottom being about 12. What is the best way to get these bass? I am used to fishing near the bank around weeds, docks, etc. I am thinking a worm rigged on a jig, or possibly a carolina rig with a sliding weight on a 12" leader. Does this sound like it's the ticket or should I be looking towards something else? Thanks.

-Aaron

the c-rig isn't a bad idea and you could also try a few crankbaits , or give a drop shot
setup a try , good fishing and welcome to the nut house lots of great guys here .

first off welcome to the site. if there is a lot of grass in the lake i would throw a buzzbait early, it makes enough noise to draw strikes from fish that are burried in the grass. also try ripping a lipless crankbait through the grass.

Roger that. Sounds about the same line of thought that I had. Might have to give a buzz bait a try though. We hardly ever had any luck with em up north. My old man always said it was too cold and they weren't aggressive enough up there....Who knows?

buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzbaits sound like a good idea for early mornin'. However; if all else fails, try the c-rig or hook up a crankbait

welcome to the house o nuts pal!! sounds like a great idea you have there. c-rigged works great. if the water is vlear, remember to use a light colored worm. and like stevo said, buzzbaits and pop-r, spooks and such for early morning. rats and frogs oughta do good in crestview. i used to live just west of ya.....baldwin county al. never could get used to fishing down there, lol. and never really had the time (always boardeing up for huricanes, lmao). good luck and hope we have helped you.

Crankbaits. Try some super shallow ones and try some just deeper than the water you'r fishing. If you're fishing 5' of water, get one that dives 6 or 7'. Also try the Bandit 100 Series. My favorite crankbait.

I would go with a texas rig instead of a C-rig, because the C-rig's heavy weight is good for getting it down deep quickly.

Oh, I forgot about those. They've been killer for me this year, especially during the cold after ice out. There's a quite a few ways to fish them, but I prefer to use them as a jerkbait.
