Default Hardest Hit

Hardest I ever got hit was in a JV game. Estill Co. HS had a bad reputation of Playing uper classmen on JV. It was on a Kickoff Return and I'm sure some of you have heard of this guy Named Kevin Richardson. He was one of the back street boys. Well All I remember was running up the field watching trying to and I stress trying to throw a block and I turn with the ball carrier and BOOM. I hopped right up though. Sad part is I tried to get into opposing teams huddle. He sure did knock me for a loop. I watched it over on film and he really layed a slobber knocker on me. Hang in there kid. You will never regret suiting up in the pads and helmet. Some 14 years after I got out of high school I still go back home every chance I get to watch my Breathitt Co. Bobcats 3 time Class 2A Kentucky State Champion. It was just my luck that they won our first title the year after I graduated. Ohh well I still loved it like it was my own.
Just remember Our team motto was "Pain is Temporary BUT Pride is forever". You will not regret this time of your life.

To add on to the hardest hit part of this......

I went to samll high school in virginia. We had around 400 kids between grades 8-12. Most years, we were fortunate to field 20 kids on the team. (Yes, we played 11 on 11). I played TE, MLB, P, and K. I missed one snap in 4 years of varsity.

4th and 2 with the ball around their 40 less than 10 seconds left in the 3rd Qtr. (funny how I have to think hard to remember my wife's birthday, but something from more than 20 years ago is vivid)
I was deadly at pinning the other team within the 5 and had done so a couple of times already that game. The coach decided that this was the time to run our fake punt. I rolled to the right and, yes, I did see the TE just past the line of scrimmage, but I wanted glory. My eyes were focused on our right side gunner. He was even with his blocker and we ll knew if he was even, he was leavin. I figured I would pump to the TE and then heave it up for Steve to run under it. In my mind, I was Joe Theisman and Cary Clark was going long. (Google them if you are too young to know who I am talking about....LOL)
I could see everthing clearly, well everything except their right end who was comming at me. I should have felt his presence, since he was big enough to generate his own gravity. What I did feel was top of his face mask right between the shoulder pads. I remember thinking about physics class and a couple of videos I had seen for crash tests.
I was told that I looked like a rag doll and some found it funny that my arms could flail backwards that far.
As I lay there, finally blinking my eyes to open them, I can still picture Coach Sherwood standing over me and calling me things I will not repeat. Then, using the medical skills of the 80's he tugged me to my feet by my face mask and drug me off the field.

I would love to say how I got even later in the game, but sadly it was a butt woopin for our team.

you get that slow motion video from 3rd person view.. of your hit.. and your whiplash like the crash dummies.. xcept you have a C with crossing swords( in my case..the cavaliers) on the side of your head ..not the yellow and black circle logo...

i get the same thing..

we normally play with 18 people.. 11 man football.. and we used to be decent at 3A in SCISA....

but now were 2A with 30 people.. and we have like half usually of the opposing team

The Boss said it best. In the words of Springsteen "Glory days. They'll pass you by." I will say one thing though. Cassidyta is right. You will never forget them. There was nothing like that game day friday at School getting to wear your Jersey. Mine was 28 by the way. Riding that old bus all over Eastern Kentucky. Sneaking on the Cheerleaders bus. Pep Rallies, Home coming, Senior night. Man I could go on and on. Ohh and there was my junior year when we went 1 and 10. Those long bus rides back home not talking stunk. I played Tight end and Defensive end. Now I've gota six month old whom I hope dons the pads and helmet some day. That is if he don't want to join the elite series. I could be his boat launcer. Man I'm glad you brought this thread up Photo boy. Brought back some good memories.

yeah we got our butts handed to us last night..on a gold platter

42-0

it was 14-0 at half.. because our OLB and CB [when we shifted defense] couldnt wasnt paying attention to the recievers.. and have two guys covering trips.. and then the CB or OLB would rush leaving the inside guy wide *** open.. then that scored two TD's..

second half.. i played d for the second half..

and our offence sucked and they killed us on up the middle runs.

better be glad he didnt come to me at ROLB and/or CB

well..i didnt get to play [due to missed practice]

but we won!

49-35 and with like 20 seconds left.. we were on there 5 .. just running the clock down.. 4th down..turn over.. and we let a guy get outside for a gain..

ended up the clock ran out with them on our like 3 yard line

we stop them and everyones on the field.. and there like..noooo.. 1 second left..

so we let them run the last play.. let them score.. to get it over with for a final of 41-49

Jack Tatum was an absolute monster... I have his book and am getting an autographed mini helmet. Paralyzed a patriots receiver in a pre season game with this killer hit, and had another nuts one on a ravens receiver that sent the helmet flying. And of course the infamous Immaculate Reception. I wish there were more DBs like that today... Sean Taylor was the closest thing

[quote=cassidyta;202856]To add on to the hardest hit part of this......
I went to samll high school in virginia. [quote]

Ahhhh...Dear Old Samll High! I remember the pep rallies on crisp fall afternoons, the day before THE annual game v. our archrival, Lareg HS.
We'd all join hands and sing the Alma Mater...With apologies to Cornell U.
"Far abo-ove Skunk Creek's waters,
Stands Old Samll Highhhhhhhh.
Never heard of Mr. Samll.
Just who wasssss that guyyyyyyy?"
Wanna sing along? Here's the tune; played by our choir director, Mr. Percy Dovetonsils and his, uhhhh, "roomie", Head Chess & Ping Pong Coach, Mr. Bruce Milquetoast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM0wzZBvXJ8

Then, the MIGHTY MARCHING WOMBAT BAND would thump , blat, and tweetle lustily as we raised our voice in the fight song...
"Wombats fiiiight, Wombats fiiiight!
Fight on for Charteuse and Whiiite.
Wombats fiiiight, Wombats fiiiight,
We cannot get stomped toniiiight!
(Shouted "BUT WE MIGHT!"
And jusssst in case we doooooo,
Coach, we'll bla-ame it all on youuuuu.
Then we'll hang yer a55 in Effigy, (Population 244!)
Down the road a mile or twooooo."
Sing along!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIE4xPwME08

I just amaze myself sometimes.
