Kicker Engine Fuel Tank

Should I keep the vent on this 3 gallon steel tank closed tightly when I'm not using the kicker regardless if I’m out on the water or the boat's in my driveway covered - or should I keep it vented?

When not in use or not running you need to keep the vent open so as to keep large amounts of condesation forming. Also ifn you dont run the kicker alot I STRONGLY advise the use of SEAFOAM as a additive. Works BETTER than stabil and does a double duty of keeping the fuel sytstem relatively trouble free. Seafom can be purchased at most auto stores. Auto Zone I know carries it.

I was told that when not in use, you should do anything you can to eliminate the chance of condensation forming in the tank? I'm not talking like not in use for 3 months, but more like a week inbetween outtings. I was told to always fill up your tank so that condensation wont form...???

That as well will help to keep condesation from forming. A closed container with fuel in it will expand with the heat of day and contract as it cools down at night. This process causes condesation............dont ask my how............by keeping the vent open you eleiminate the pressure building which keeps the second part from happening. Same principal with built in tanks.....gotta keep the vent open.

Oh ok I misunderstood your first reply, I thought you said you wanted condensation in the gas tank... All is good now.
