Livewell feeding
I have never seen this happen before, but yesterday it did.
I had a few in the box, and then my son came to fish. We stopped at the dock, and after a few casts of breadballs, caught a 5-6 inch shiner, for him to drift while I was casting worms. I didnt have a bait bucket with me, so I tossed it in the livewell. 5 minutes later, I opend the box to retrieve the shiner, and bait him up. The shiner was gone, and there where scales floating everywhere. The larger of the 2 bass had a nice little tail sticking out of his mouth lol....he ate the shiner in the livewell. I have seen thousands of bass hack stuff up, but dont think I have ever seen one eat in the box!

I've never heard or seen that either, Recon. Yacking up stuff, sure-but never actively feeding!

Somewhere I believe, that someone talked about someone fishing in a tourney. That had caught a couple of bass, one being 16", and the other one 24" or bigger(I don't recall the exact details). The end of the story was that he went to check on the fish in the livewell, and the 16" bass was gone. After further review the 16" tail was found sticking out of the bigger bass's throat. Now this was just a story I heard, I have no verification/proof of it. But as zooker said it doesn't surprise me at all. Actually I was gonna post a question several times, but keep forgetting it. Here's the question for tourney fishing folks.
Can you keep shiners in your livewell while fishing in a tourney? Is it legal or not, or more to the point is it ehtical or not? Just wondering if you can at least give the bass lunch while hanging out in your well, and heck any weight it added wouldn't hurt at the weigh in. Mind you "I am not talking about force feeding the bass or anything close to that". Just having some shiners in the livewell in case one of the bass got hungry, or any food really. I know livebait is illegal to fish with, but is it illegal to feed the fish after being caught? Lizards

Im guessing that would probably be illegal for a tourney. If you pull up at the scales w/ a tail in it's mouth they would probably DQ you for fishing w/ live bait.

A buddy of mine caught a bass on a senko that had a huge bluegill in it's belly. It ahould have been a two pound fish but weighed almost three.
