Take nice bass from shore all the time. Be there early, or as the sun starts going down. Spinnerbaits are deadly from shore as well.

Yes! I've got 113 bass this year and never fished from a boat! Want proof?

Spinnerbaits are great like Keith said! Probably caught all my better fish on spinnerbaits!

I also see yer name is toppwater! Top waters are great for shore fishing! Pop-R's, skittter pops, and frogs are just few!

98% of my fishing is done from the shore. All the big fish I hooked into were from the shore too. Senkos, spinnerbaits, finesse worms, crankbaits....you name it I use it, the main baits are Senkos and spinners for me.
Shore fishing is more relaxing and less hassel I think, just walk up and cast and when your done, just reel in and walk away.( I learned that at Rex Kwon Do) LOL

toppwatr,

I think you need to get over the perception that baits from the shore might not work as well as they would from a boat. Get that out of your mind and start fishing! The fish don't know or care if you are on the shore or a boat. A lure that works from a boat will work from the shore.

Take this from another person who is practically shorebound. I haven't fished much lately, but in 2007, just like bassboss, I caught well over 100 bass from the shore.

Good luck and go get them!

About a month ago, I caught a 7 pound bass on a carolina rig with a zoom baby brush hog kiwi color. I caught it from the bank in a pond that is 1.25 acres in size. No picture to show. Cell phone was at home and no camera. I won't make that mistake again.

Shore fishing is as productive as anything if you're smart about it... I see guys fishing at their feet and wonder why they can't catch. Find a place you can cast parallel to the shoreline, preferably along the windblown side, and roll that spinnerbait along.... FISH ON! Good luck.

Thanks!

When I'm fishing from shore, I use casting tackle, the pond magic spinnerbaits are to light and small for me. Most of the time I'm using 1/4oz terminator spinnerbaits, or boohya spinnerbaits. For heavy cover, like hyrilla, I spinnerbaits, swimjigs, worms, and if it's not to thick, I'll use a chatterbait. For pads, and reeds, I'll use spinnerbaits, 10" rage tail Anacondas, buzz frogs, and on the edges a buzzbait. Something goes for reeds. I'll use a jig worm, spinnerbait, chatterbait, buzzbait, and a top water plug where I can. You're spook should do good, never used them much though. When I have I've used them along cat tails, and wood.

I use willow blades in stained to clear water, and colorado for dark water, and murky water. I like willow blads when I fish heavier cover, and colorado for thin pads, and cat tails!

I caught my first 10+ pounder with a Rapala original floating minnow size 9 from shore.

I caught my personal best ( 13.86 lbs ) with a Rapala Shad Rap size 7 also from shore.

I´ve caught several fish between 10 and 13 pounds from shore too.

Ya, you need to get some of those! In the jointed, and original versions! They work great! On the jointed ones I've had days where that's the only thing that worked, and on those same days, I've caught 10-15 fish, some being in the 3-5lb range! All I do is let them float to the top and jerk them down, and than letting them float back up, try to imagine a dyeing shad, floating on the top of the water.

Gerat baits they is!

Shore fishing isn't that much different than dishing from a boat. If you know where to find the bass, you should be fine.
