Splitting the Pipe...Humminbird Si, Di and 2D

Here is a neat image of a 6" Irrigation Pipe that shows Humminbird Full 180 Degree of Coverage in Side Imaging actually it overlaps a hair by this image because you can see on both sides. Also Down Imaging and 2D of the same Irrigation Pipe Crossing a Creek. Fallen Bridge to the Right Was not in coverage area of the 2D and DI area of Coverage.

Nice, Doug. I've been looking on BBC on the Humminbird section scrolling through ALL of the unit snapshots and trying to absorb all of this info. I'm learning as much as possible in anticipation of a new Humminbird unit within a couple of months. You can bet I'll be asking lots of questions! Thanks Doug and keep them coming.

Great shots! Would you mind posting your Chart Speed, Frequency, Sensitivity, etc. too? I feel pretty comfortable with mine now but I don't generally go out as far as 100' per side. I'll see if I can find a pic of a bridge I found last year, it is really impressive.

How about splitting some trees???

Humminbird 1197c in Down Imaging...

Now the same image in Side Imaging scanning 100' to each side for a total of 200' of total coverage from Surface to Bottom...Neat thing with Side Imaging is you have the same data but actually can see more and tell which side of centerline the data is on...

Thanks for your posts on here! I watched your video about settings and learned a lot. Before I felt pretty confident with mine but learned that I was running my chart speed way too fast. I slowed it down yesterday and really got a lot better images and wider coverage that I could see.

I was really excited to get down imaging when it came out, but honestly I don't really use it much at all. The SI is always on though.

What you see in Down Imaging can be seen in Side Imaging. But with Side Imaging you can see more and tell which side of the boat it is on and get increased coverage area - limits of any Down Looking Sonar System either Down Imaging or 2D Sonar.

Glad the Videos helped. They are really easy to fine tune the settings but if you don't know how and why you get average images. Guess it's like me an a Camera...I don't know all the benefits of f-stop, light settings and capture speed my photographs are average versus professional images that those that know can produce. Humminbird is very easy to adjust settings but you have to know how to and why to and you get professional images just like any that you see posted.
