First trip to Sportman's Warehouse
I went to the Sportman's Warehouse for the first time saturday. I think it compares to BPS and Cabalas without the bells and whistles. Some good prices on baits. Some good selections and some skimpy. I like throwing frogs and toads and found a couple of new ones. One is the Thundertoad by Southern Lure Co. It is a soft body with a plastic buzzbait blade on the front. The other is a new bait by Sizmic, the Creature Toad. It has a tube type head with a tube skirt and paddle legs. Both will get a workout this year. I also picked up a 9" Wild Eye shad in baby bass. They had 10%off days and I also had a ten dollar off coupon. I almost bought a GLoomis flipping rod but didn't. Bought a pair of hiking shoes instead. All in all not a bad place. Better than Dick's and Gander MT. IMHO.

sounds like you had a lucrative trip there all in all......haven't heard of this store so i guess they don't have them in Texas.....so i guess i'll have to settle for Academy, Gander, and BPS.....

YES. I love that store. I live about a mile away from one. I think they're pretty organized and have a great selection of baits. (not rods)
A bunch of new reels ( at least 15) were just shipped in. |

Texas! They ARE in Texas. I shop at the one located off Loop 1604 (San Antonio) near Hwy 281. If coming from IH10W, take the Gold Canyon exit and stay in the left lane. At the light, turn left, then left again onto the westbound access road. Sportsman's Warehouse is on the right, maybe a quarter-mile down...be alert! Coming from the east, like IH35. take the Gold Canyon exit, go straight at the light, and (see above). There are others, BTW. Why not try a web search? FR |
