Default Time to check everything

Just a little heads up for alot of you folks that have to put your boat up for the winter. You done got it out and got it ready for the season. Done fished it a few times and been hammering around from spot to spot. Now dont get caught with your britches down and have a problem keep you from fishing. Take a hour or so and CHECK everything. Bolts, steering, wiring, fluid levels. The WHOLE BOAT. Only takes a hour or so depending on your boat but may save you a bunch of money and as well keep you fishing.

I devote an entire day to that pursuit. I call it shakeout day. I splash the boat after a startup in the driveway with muffs in place. Smoke covers two blocks and dogs run for cover as my 200hp Mercury comes to life. Billions of bugs die from the smoke and windows rattle for blocks. The guy with the race car up the street comes out on his front porch to see if I own a fuel injected blown dragster with open headers. He sees my boat and goes back inside caughing from the blue smoke. Later after I am sure things work I splash the boat and burn a little fuel and maybe cast a lure a couple of times. Test all electronics even my loran.. Test all linkage and hydrulics. Back home by 10am to fix what is in need of fixing.

I average 85 trips a year so things gotta work. As Captain Jack once said "It will only break out there and never at the dock"
