I've never hated the man more.

It's truly sad when someone can't bring you around to their way of thinking, so they go after your kids instead. The man is completely embracing the cult of personality that has sprung up around him. Sick, twisted, and I pray to God...temporary.

Wow...thanks BassinTom, for bringing Penn's stuff to my attention. I didn't know he was doing this. He's a pretty straight shooter, and I like to listen to him a lot. His HBO show is way too profane, but he's pretty smart.

I dont get it, what about that video was bad? There was no bad message in that video, the message I got was do what you can to help our country out. Maybe thats a bad message to some, but to me it's common sense and we should all help our country in some way or another.

Trying to inspire children to do something good for our country is not a bad thing in my Opinion.

Yeah, I'm with doc on this one. I watched all but the last minute, due to time concerns, but it all seemed pretty legit. I personally don't plan on taking steps like watchin when I flush, but if that guy does, more power to him. He'll make up for my courtesy flushes. I thought the video had an overall good message of social conciousness. Not socialism.

Then why did all of the images resolve to become a picture of Obama at the end? That was like seeing building sized pictures of Saddam Hussein or Kim Jong Il as you drive through Baghdad or Pyong Yang. I'm telling you, that man has designs on being King.

Anthony Kiedis, former heroin addict singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, vowed his service to Barack Obama. WTFH?!?! In medieval times, a knight would swear an oath of fealty to a Lord. The President is a public servant, not the other way around! Here we go with the king thing again. We have a collection of uneducated, leftist Hollywood idiots taking part in the indoctrination of our youth. The next video will be asking the kids to report any un-green activities their parents are doing to the authorities.

It's okay though...I'm GLAD this happened. All of the things I use to rail about, and got eyes rolled at by my friends, are coming to pass. A lot of eyes are opening. These people wanted change and a revolution? Well, it's coming folks. It's just not the one they had in mind.

I believe you took the vow of service a bit to literal, also the message was a in general "what are you gonna do to help"

What if Bush did something like this? People would be in the streets rioting...It's coming around to bite him in @ss tho..his approval rating is dropping like a rock..most independent research has him somewhere between 42-52%. Then again he has a 99% approval rating among african-americans, but it's not about race...yeah right!

Then they shouldn't have included his vow in the video. It was very clear they didn't mind editing videor, with all of the clips pasted together.

And it doesn't matter if I take it too literal. I'm old enough to think for myself. Kids take things literally. Some of them still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny at that age. Kids are OFF LIMITS when it comes to political discussion, especially when they're at school, because they're a captive audience. It's not like they can just get up and leave.

The only servant we should be serving is our lord Jesus Christ. I agree that the message wasn't so bad but the servant part is what got me. If your going to serve anyone serve our Christ.

I just found out that there are a few militant school superintendants out there (namely, Arthur Tate, District No. 3, Tempe, AZ, for one) who have issued press releases that parents will not be allowed to "opt out" their kids from seeing the speech. ?!?!?!?!?!

Can you believe the arrogance of these people? Not be allowed?!?! ROFL.

Something tells me, Mr. Tate will not be allowed to return to work after the next local election.

I also read that a lot of parents are afraid of being put on some sort of list if they keep their kid home that day.

And also consider the effect of the current legislation being offered up by Jay Rockefeller, D-VA, that would allow Obama to shut the internet down in case of a "cyber emergency". What kind of emergency, you ask? Hmmm....I think he would find a bunch of parents bucking his will via internet organization an emergency. Don't laugh...with this guy, anything is possible. With no internet, you wouldn't even have heard about this speech until your kid came home and started lecturing you about what Obama told him to do.

My thought is that if you really don't want your child to see the video, then keep them at home and write them a note saying they were sick. It is that simple. And with the swine flu going around, is the school really going to argue with a parent saying the child was really sick.

Shutting the Internet down is not a possibility, you see USA doesn't own the internet.
As for the rest of the stuff being said, I feel real bad for our country and our future if people actually are having that big of a fit over a speech asking people to help out our country. I guess the "conservatives" will attack with whatever ammo they can, even if its off base and completely warping a good idea.

"Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
JFK when he was sworn in.

Is that statement evil, did parents ban their kids from watching that speech? If your gonna attack the man, find a good reason to attack the man (his stupid healthcare reform, I'll agree with the lot of you on that I imagine.) But a speech asking people to do their part, and help out in any way they can, even if its by "pledging to the funk of funkiness", is not bad. If the republicans pick this as their smoking gun for revoulition it will probably backfire and blow up in their face

Of course you didn't. You just saw the big coalescence of his face at the end. That should tell you what the real message of the video was. Not a tree, or a happy little animal. No, it was his big artistically rendered so as to make him look more heroic and noble face.

Jessica Alba is maybe the most untalented successful actress of all time.

But, like that one hungry bass would say, "I'd hit that".

And Waffle...the only thing worse than arguing politics....is not arguing politics.

Supporting living better to help the planet. I am for it to an extent. But supporting a man who is backed by those who believe in what has crumbled the morality of a nation. No, I won't support that. And who still has slaves? And why were only the white people saying they would stop it? Just media pushing BS as usual.
