Jigs...a question

Are jigs to be used exclusively with Baitcasting setups or can you also use them with a spinning combo?

While certain techniques work better on either spinning or casting gear, you can fish it on whatever you want. There aren't set rules that the fishing technique police will come and give you a ticket if you don't follow, lol

I prefer to fish jigs on casting gear, but I will fish them, especially real small ones (like 1/8oz) on spinning gear if I need to.

ok, now my big question, can you still use the flipping, or pitching technique on a spinning combo using a jig, or do i cast like normal?

Absolutely. While I think with pitching and flipping, baitcasters are more accurate, I it is still very possible with a spinning combo. You'll just have to make some modifications to your technique, especially with flipping where you're actually controlling the line.

Ok, i will try the flip and pitch techniques with my spinning reel, and watch videos to make sure i am doing it right, i just want to be able to use the lures i have in my box, rather than having wasted a certain amount of money into them you know?

You can use any type of bait on any type of fishing reel/rod. Yes, many techniques or types of lures are best served on certain kinds of gear, but as long as you get the lure wet, you can use what you've got.

and remember fishing is about relaxing and fun don't stress over Technique bait or rods have fun and the rest will follow

yeah, i just want to get the most knowledge i can out of fishing, so i guess the key is practice and relaxation lol

i really think that when your just starting a new technique like jig fishing you should use whatever your most comfortable with whether it be a spinning or casting combo.

when you decide what you want heres some advice. for smaller jigs like bitsy bugs or baby boo jigs i would prefer a spinning rod and reel because it will give you more accuracy with a smaller lighter weight jig.

as you level up in weight, try moving to a baitcaster. it will be alot more comfortable and easier once you get the hang of it.
