what kind of worm hooks do yall use?

I mostly use Gamakatsu, but I've been using some Owner and some Youvella or mahatchii or whatever they're calling them now recently.

I used gamakatzu for a long time. Now i use the new lazer trokar there are great hooks.

Gamakatsu for me, but thats because we have found a lot of them on sale at BPS and when Sportsmans Warehouse closed near us. I have used others before and liked them just fine.

95% Owner and some Gamkatsu. I think they hold there edge better and do no bend as easy.

well dang...3 ppl other than me said they used owner...but there are only 3 votes for owner(one of them is mine) something doesnt quite add up there

i made the switch to owner about 6 months ago and try not to fish with anything else. but since i have to order them to get the kind i want around here, i sometimes get stuck using gammys.
i try to avoiding using gammys because i have notice they bend pretty easy...i have never had a problem with owner hooks bending.

What is all of this talk about hooks bending? I imagine any hook I use could support a 20 lb weight hung from it without being permanently bent. That's more force than any bass is ever going to put on it. Why would you want more? And more importantly, why would you be willing to pay more for an over-engineered hook?

I have personally never had a problem with hooks bending on fish... while snagged is another story, but never on fish.

I've used gammy, mustad, owner, and mihatchii.

because i dont want my hooks bending when i get snagged. a bent hook is a worthless hook.

i have had gammy hooks bent beyond repair after one snag...if im going to pay good money for a hook, i dont want it to be bending every time i get snagged.

I have used gammys for a long time and love em. My new favorite gammy hook is the skip gap, Its the best hook ive ever used for texas riggin.

95% of the hooks i have get snagged on a stump come loose with no problem.

20 pound Pline or 60 pound braid so leaving hooks in trees is unheard of. However straighting out Gammys was a problem but Owners just bring the log or whatever up to the boat. LOL They are all good I believe, just partial to Owner.

i agree...they are all great hooks or else they wouldnt sell so many, but i am just partial to owner hooks.

I was just wondering at what point in the snag process you were bending them, spro. I just don't tend to pull on snags hard enough to bend the hook, for fear of breaking the line. It makes sense now, though I have to say I have never pulled back a bent hook.

no fear...a lot of the bends come when snagged underneath a pier...idk how much yall fish piers down there, but on a couple of the lakes here that is about all we have as far as cover. so when your hook is snagged underneath a pier where u cant reach it, it ends up coming back straightened out instead of popping.

Right. All I'm saying is...would you rather it didn't bend, and broke off? Same difference, you're out one hook.

If it was stuck in the piling, do you really think you could have pulled it out if it didn't bend?

I'm just asking you to think critically about it.

This is kind of like people complaining about their seat belt hurting them in a car crash. Do you think you would have been better off without the seat belt?

I've bent EWG Gammys frog fishing in lily pads. I was trying to horse a fish out of the slop, but all I ended up with is 5 pounds of salad and a hook that was bent probably 30 degrees from straight. After that, I started using the EWG Superline Gammys and haven't had that problem.

i picked up some EWG superline gammys last night for a tournament today(didnt have time to order owners) and was actually really impressed with them...they may be my new hook from now on. pulled a 9lb mudfish out the slop with no problem. had 7 worm bites and came up with 5 fish. (2 short fish, 2 solid keepers, and a mud) had one missed bite, and one linebreak on the hook set.
