Default Looking for a new net

I lost my net on my way to the lake the sunday before last and I have been looking at a few new ones. I like the idea of this of this net: http://www.amazon.com/Landing-That-F...052172&sr=8-10
It would be easy to store and what not, I am just not sure it would work that great. Any suggestions on a net to get? I miss my old net it was a one hander net and I can't find one like it anymore .

i would reccomend one that has the plastic type netting instead of the rope kind. treble hooks won't get tangled up in it as bad.

nets also make a good crankbait retriever if you aren't hung up too deep.

as c-rig said, plastic will also help keep the fish slime on the fish, where it belongs.

I would hate catching a trophy from your boat. Not scared to lip a fish, but a net when you have the catch of a lifetime on the other end of your pole seems like a good idea to me.

Has anyone seen a net that looks like the one in this drawing? I used it on a friends boat and have been unable to find it online. The handle is completely retractable without having to push in any tabs or anything.

my comp won't let me see that drawing marc put up but i've been looking for one i saw a local tv guy using. it was all black, the net completely pulled inside the handle and it looked a little more sturdy than the one that started this thread. if anybody can find one that fits that description, post it.

Well I'll admit it, I am scared to lip a bass with a crankbait in its mouth. Have a hook in your hand with a bass attatched to the other treble shaking around is not my idea of a good day off.

Plastic netting is a must though.

Perhaps the new KVD folding net might do... although the price is high

The one I am looking ofr had the rubber netting so that hooks don't get stuck but that KVD net is pretty close in all other regards. I have a 16.5' boat so I need to save space wherever I can.

Uhmm... A net is a net. All though I'm certain someone knows of the most expensive "best" net you can buy... I lip the little guys, but if I think it's picture worthy fish then I net it... Sorry Zook, i guess it is my feminine side shining through. leaning over to lip in the canoe is tricky anyway.

I do tournament fish and we net all of our fish. I just do it because its quick and easy and we can move on, I understand what your saying Zook and if you are looking to move up to that I would tell you to get used to that to but I fish for fun mainly and if I win a few tourneys along the way thats awesome.

Come on guys quit giving bandit ideas on a net. All I ever hear when we're fishing is " got one get the net" or "are you going to get the net". What really bites my butt is when he says it before I can get back to fishing.

I fired my net man 2 years ago, after loosing a wall hanger at the boat. I then re- hired him last febuary, when he netted a wall hanger for me
