Default Trolling Motor Prop

As I had previously posted in the bragging section, I am currently without a TM prop. I plan to remedy that this week, but am trying to figure out if there is any value to the 3 bladed props. My very simple understanding of physics tells me that this should mean that I have a larger surface that is touching the water. I would expect that this means that I have more grip and a stronger/faster pull.
That being said, my motor is a very old minn-kota 28. Will this added surface area cause issues with the motor. (over work it?) I really didn't have an issue with the 2 prop blade, but since I am replacing it I am considering
all options.
My wife didn't see this as a reason to buy a new TM, so replacement prop is my only option.

Thanks
