Bass Reproduction Videos
Am new to this site and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kevin Stenzel from South Beloit, IL and have been passionate about fishing my whole life. I am also a fish taxidermist specializing in Replicas. I've recently created a couple videos for YouTube & thought some of you might enjoy seeing how a reproduction fish is done. Enjoy!

First of all welcome to the site. I'm not sure if we have any taxidermists yet. It's a great site with some great folks and I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Thanks for the videos you posted. I've nver seen how one of these reproductions is done. I messed around with taxidermy in my youth, doing a few fish and birds, a couple squirrrels, so I found this very interresting. Your work is impressive! Beautiful mount. I have a few questions. When you create your finished product, are both sides of the fish painted or just the front? And lastly, if someone wanted a reproduction done of a fish they caught, what information would you need? I'm guessing a photo with length and girth would be helpful. But is there anything else? I caught a bass last year I thought about having a reproduction done for, but don't have exact measurments. It was estimated at 8 pounds. Length was a guess of around 24 inches. Anyways, thanks for the post.

Thanks for the compliments...
Keithdog: Most of my fish are painted on just one side, however I do paint any part of the back side (cheek, tail, etc.) that shows due to curve of the fish. I also do quite a few pedestal mounts which are completely finished on both sides, but charge 50% more for those. Usually I work from just a photo & length and if weight & girth are available, all the better. |
