Default What's that smell!!!

Yep, it's skunk! Got smoke checked on the water yesterday! Not a bite one in 5 1/2 hours. It went from foggy and cool to sunny and hot in about 90 minutes. Literally went from 57* to 88* by about 9 am, the fish moved deep and I could see them frolicking around on their beds, rubbing on logs, but I'll be darned if I couldn't get them to bite.

The only cool part of the day is I saw this big @$$ flying bird with a nice bass in his claws; I said to meself, "that's not a vulture!" It landed on a tree right behind our boat. Once I got my eyes to focus through the fog I realized it was a bald eagle with breakfast in his claws. What an amazing sight!!! I had never seen an eagle in the wild, let alone did I know SoCal was home to them. Unfortunately by the time I was able to get my phone out of my pocket and the fog to lift enough to get a pic he had flown off.

On another note fishing in SoCal is so darn frustrating! The bite is never consistent, etc, etc, etc....LOL! Hope you all had a better weekend then I did (fishing wise).

Sorry to hear you got skunked. That stinks (no pun intended ), especially when you can see them and it's like they are messing with you. Better luck next time out!

We are fortunate to see a fair number of eagles on the lake our cabin is on. There is a good "eagle tree" that we pass by when we go through the no wake zone that leads to the main portion of our lake, which is where I got this shot in September of 2010.

And this one is from a different part of the lake during May, 2011:

Touche! It wasn't bad at all until the fog lifted and the sun came out, LOL! Frustrating, but not bad...

Nice pics Watter! I plan to go back and do nothing besides look out for eagles now that I know they are there, there is a trail that goes all the way around the lake; a lot of rattle snakes too

It was pretty darn neat...I think my daughter was tired of me saying, "I can't believe we saw an Eagle", "wasn't that Eagle neat", "can you believe what we saw this morning", etc. Everytime one of her friends would come over I'd say to her, "Beebs (my nickname for her) tell so and so what we saw while were fishing." She'd just roll her eyes, LOL!

Watching the Eagle more than made up for the slow day of fishing. Thats the kind of gifts the good Lord gives us when we are out there enjoying the natural gifts He has given us. I've had my share of bad fishing days, but usually, something will happen along that day to bring me pleasure.

Sorry to hear about the skunk out. However, watching an eagle in action IMHO is one of the coolest things to behold. However, the bald eagles in my neck of the woods are trout anglers, lol.
