Default To Pin or Not to Pin

I have three low budget baitcasters, all with the centrifugal brake (dial a number) on one side, manual brake on the other side. I spool #40 braid and throw plastic worms, Rat-L-Traps, spinner baits, and also fish with shiners. I see some reels have a "pin system" type brake and was wondering what's the difference in the brake systems and which has an advantage over the other? Anyone?
