Default Lew's test drive

Got a chance to play with the new Speed Spool. Not the $150 model but the $90 one. Used a TFO 7' med/fast rod and a 3/8 oz chatterbait type bait. Definately worth checking out if you're in the market for a low profile reel for less than a ben franklin. One thing I noticed was that no thumb was needed to slow the spool down and the bait flew. No backlash. I also had a 7' St. Croix med/heavy/fast with a Curado (old model) 201 and a 3/8 oz jig/pig and I didn't come close to matching the distance.
ps Got a pic of a huge snakehead that the Major caught on Weds!!! I'll lost pics on Mon.

I have been using the Lews reels for about a month now. I have had an opportunity to use them on the water and land several keeper size fish in the 3 to 4 pound range. I am using the TP1H, it is very light at 6.7oz and casts as well or better than any of the other reels that I currently own. I have been very impressed with my initial use and if they show they have good durability, I will be switching from my long time favorite, Abu Garcia, to the new Lews speed spools. If you have not done so, do yourself a favor and check these out the next time your at your tackle shop.

WOW! Coming from a guy who I know know loved his garcia's, that's amazing!! If I get decent summer job this year, I plan I getting a nice new combo, I was considering a PQ or 90$ Seed spool. But after reading this I think I may have to go with that SS pro, or tournament (Dose the SS T have duel breaks too?). That's sweet. And that's a SICK looking combo!!
