i dont ever
i dont ever use those little quick snap thingys(those lil swivle like things so u dont have to re tie a lure every time) i know that with spinners and crankbaits u lose motion. my question though is what about using them on braided line, and only on my flipping stick that i only use jigs with? cause cuttin braided line sometimes to me is a big hassle. can i get away with using them here, or do i just quit being lazy and re tie?

I really don't like the use of snaps, and I definitely wouldn't attach a jig that I'm flipping with a snap. Too much could go wrong, there.
Get a good pair of scissors or fingernail clippers and braided line really isn't a problem to cut. |

the only problem with using a snap is it catches more weeds.if you are jigging in weeds then forget the snap.if you are going to use a snap get these.

Stick to using snaps for crankbaits, but on a jig I'd tie directly to the line, no snap..
You need a small pair of sissors to cut that braid line, instead of teeth or clippers. |

I wouldn't use a snap for jigs especially with braided line. I do however use a snap for crankbaits.

I was under the impression that you lose action when a snap is attached to a crankbait. Someone needs to educate me on the subject. Thanks, in advance, for the information (education).

I'm with Ken-I don't use them either. Too much can go wrong. I trust my knots a lot more than a snap.

I've never used them or wanted to use them, however on many top water baits they recommend a loop tied to the lure for more action, as well as I've read many people claim you get more action out of a crankbait...
Also, Storm includes a snap to many of thier Hot n Tots and Wiggleworts. |

the only time i don't use a duo lock snap is on soft plastics and jigs.never ever lost a fish due to a snap problem.

For cranks I have been using the Rapala Knot. I heard the same thing about snaps and direct knots causing lack of motion.
I don't think that I tried this knot with braid though, I will this year. |

I never use them for the same reasons as Reb and Ken. Plus it really doesn't save that much time.

for snaps, i thnk theyre annoying. my thumb kills when trying to get small ones open and closed, i could do a palomars knot even faster. a bigger snap is easier to use but mroe action loss and the fish probably wouldnt touch it

i only use them when i fishing with heavy leaders for fish like gar and jack grennel so if i break it off or it gets frayyed i can just detach it and hook another leader on but ive never used them on any other things but they do reduce line twist and such but i would think it would take action from some baits and be kinda obvious to a fish but im no fish so i dont know for sure

Use duo locks on everything, except soft plastics. Sorry, Im lazy and tying a new knot every time I change lures would take to much time for me. Never had a problem w/ action, If anything the action should be close to what is expected. You are pulling on the snap, not the lure. Have not lost a fish due to one failing.

It probably helps when the eyes start to go and tying a knot becomes a 5 minute ordeal
