I put one on my boat. Figured it couldn't hurt. Haven't had much water in it, but gives me additional peace of mind.

yea thats what i was thinken there not that pricey and i got an old motor so i want to do what i can to save it

Best motor insurance you can put in the boat. Boat gas tanks are vented, allowing HUMID air to get into the tank and water condenses out and drips into the gas. Ethanol absorbs water, which is why the water seperator filters are doing so well. Water/gas gets to the motor - the result is usually BOOM. I think they are well worth their price.

Bassboogieman couldnt be more right. Ethanol fuel nowadays DEMANDS a water seperator on any boat and more so on a boat with built in fuel tanks. While your putting that seperaotor on try and find the ethanol friendly fuel lines that are being produced now. If I can remeber where I seen them being sold I will post back

how much are these? and how do i install them? i'm running a 1959 35...i'd like to upgrade in the future but she ran good before she got taken off the boat.. i'd hate to HAVE to upgrade..

The cost of a water seperator best I can remeber is around 35. Install is nothing more than cutting the fuel line..........in the right place...........and mounting the filter plate and putting the filter on. That simple. After that when you add fuel a quick visual of the sight on the filter will tell ya when you need to change out the filter. DO NOT mistake a seperator for a fuel filter. They are in ADDITION TO a fuel filter. Like boogie and reb said you may or may not be runnig a 280 drag Mercury or a 250 HO ETEC but the piece of mind that your motor is getting nothing but fuel will take the worry of your motor taking a drink of water and blowing the powerhead. You ask how...............water does NOT compress like fuel..............it compresses MUCH harder putting extreme pressure on rod and crank bearings,rods,and rings and pistons. GET THE PICTURE

well i'm kinda worried because yesterday while i was hanging my motor the cover as off an some ater got in it .. and it rained last night so some water got on the little fuel line nipple.. so i put the gas line on it today..
