Default Shes spittin and heavy oil

my 1959 'rude 35hp sat for about 12 years and we cranked it last summer and it wouldnt run without choke.
i ran it today and it did the same thing..
with the cover off it wont run except on full choke..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAKKynPpbyk

with the cover on she barely runs at full choke and better at half choke ..but only lasts about 30 seconds before it dies.. and when its running it wont run except at about half throtte [start position]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHmJyJu-jNc
theres a short one running at half choke..
think i can solve this with a good carb cleaning?

Also.. shes putting alot of oil out.. or atleast it seems to me.. maybe its normal..

i know very little about boat motors but i agree that doesn't look normal.

no pal, that ain't normal. even for an old motor. wait for zoker or boater or laser. or someone better on solving this problem for you.

PHOTOG,
I think you have lower unit seals dried up! (About a $300 overhaul) It also sounds like you need a carb overhaul. (About a $100)

hmm.. carb re-build kit is like 30 and i can get it done for 20

the lower unit seals.. dk

everything was dried up .. i may need to leave it in the water and see if they'll puff up.. thats what happen with the carb last summer.. she was leakin gas and i left it all hooked up overnight and the seals expanded over night

Sorry bud those seals aint gonna grow fer ya. Bite the bullet and get a seal kit for the lower. THE ONLY WAY to fix it. Not only taking to much of a chance and blowing the lower because of water intrusion but as well look at what you would be leaving out there in mother nature.

yep i agree with jackl and laser the lower seals are done.. the carb rebuild is a good starting place.. the smoke is normal -it an old COLD 2 stroke- i soaked mine for 3 weeks and still they leaked i just did a lower seal replacement.. it is a bigger pain in the but than anything..

I agree, do not run that motor untill you get it fixed. That bucket looked bad, bad for the fishing water.
