Default In need of a educated guess

I caught this chunky girl on a private lake a few days ago. The two fishing friends that were present estimated her weight between 10 and 12 lbs. I released her without being able to put her on a scale. I have no idea of her real weight. Can anyone give me an educated guess on her weight from this photo?

Wecome and since fisherman don't lie, yea 10 or 12 lbs sounds good to me. No matter what it weighs it's a nice fish.

Thanks, I put two scratches on the boat that later measured a hair over 24 inches. That is the only help I have.

Depending on the girth at 24 inches it should be from 9 ta 12 pounds or some where real close , just pick a number and by the pic no one will disagree .

Thank You Everyone for the help and the warm welcome. As of yesterday, I gained access to 2 more private lakes that have produced several big fish. I hope to be posting some more pics of some heavy weights soon. I did buy a scale yesterday so I can take the guess work out of it. Thanks again everyone......... Talk to you soon........ Steve

From the size of your hand vs. the size of the fish's head I would say it is probably in the 9-10 lb range - but, by all means calling it 10-12 is not an overestimation at all - it very well could be that big!

Either way its a helluva fish! Congrats and well done releasing her to make more Texas giants!
