Nice looking. How long did it take to shape.
I am going to start making some of those again. I am going to add weight and rattles and then send to company to paint.

Started around 1:00 a.m and ended around 3 or 4 (no school today due to Jewish Holiday just for those wondering) but that was working on and off and with a jigsaw and beltsander and hand sanding. And you probably wouldn't believe this but thats a piece of 2x4 I found laying around in my garage that I used to make. Gonna get some more fine sand paper tonight get er nice and smooth then going to get my air brush tommorrow and some Balsa for a different type of bait I wanna try. Not that hard it just took a while with the makeshift tools I have and I've really never worked with wood before either. Try Reb's site too, Lots of help the Underground Tackle one on the first page of this thread.

Oh yeah I still gotta add some weight tonight. This bait will either be sacrificed to the saltwater fish on Saturday or some bass. Either way Im going fishing on Saturday with it hopfully. If it all dries in time.

Laser, I just got scolded on the site not too long ago, so I really tried not to post anything at all, but its just not me to let something go idle. My Dad used to tell me I will be hard pressed to find a bigger trouble maker than the person who stares back at me in the mirror. I am getting better as I grow older , but I am definately getting slower too. Lizards, I really like the Castaway flipping sticks alot.I hope Haynesn is happy with his I sold him.I would like to have a dollar for every fish I boated with that rod.P N J

It is very easy and takes less then 10 minutes. The problem is for beginners they come out terrible. You need to be taught 1 on 1. Thats how I was taught by my cousin.
Most beginners put like 10lbs of fur on the jig which all you need is a 2 pinches. Also depending on fur you have it hurts the action. I tried with bucktail and they come out like crap. Craft fur is the way to go. Has a lot of action and easier to work with. Problems I had when beginning with bucktail Breaking Threads not holding it on No action

Also what did you use for a clear coat to protect the paint and so the wood doesn't get water logged Fish On??

My first lures were make with clear coat of nail polish. Then I used stain and put a waterproof coat over it. I use to paint my lures with nail polish but I just bought an airbrush.
I will show you 3 lures I make.

I would reccommend a flytying vise. I have two but usually use one.

As you can see all of them are a little different. I don't try to make my bodies perfect because then you lose action

Hey fish on thats why yours are faster and more uniform than mine because Balsa is really easy to shape over white fir (2x4). And pics coming soon of my painted crank hopefully gonna finish painting tonight.

Yes, I tried pine wood awhile ago and it took FOREVER.
Texas-I use a candle and heat one side of the bait. I hold the bait with a tiny pair of pliers but tweezers would work too. Once you melt on side stick it together. I get form by picking a crankbait with a nice body. Then I trace it on a peace of cardboard and then trace with the cardboard onto the wood. Chris-What colors you painting and with what? My bottom left crankbait was modeled for a different crankbait. Not sure if I like that one as much.
