pond fishing

I fish a pond that is about 75 yards wide and 350 yards long. The pond gets up to six or seven feet with big walleye, bass, crappie, bluegill, and it has a few catfish in it. The weeds are in the deep parts of the pond. There is a fallen tree at one end of the pond and 5 or 6 brush piles somewhere around the pond.

I know that there are huge ones in there because last weekend I caught a 23" bass and as soon as I released it a bass maybe eight or nine inches longer than it swam right up next to it and I lost a bigger one when it jumped up into the air and threw the hook. I have caught 15" and 16" crappie while i was fishing for bass along with a 19" walleye. I also saw a guy catch a 31" walleye out of it.

Does anyone have any recommendations of what I should use?

try and 6'' plastic lizards or 10'' plastic worms. how clear is the pond? also try jigs with a plastic or pork trailer. what have you been using to catch those bass? by the way,welcome to the forum!

Welcome!Find out what the main forage is.Then you can match the colors to that forage.Also,like skeeter said,what is the clarity?What have you been using?These will help us in helping you.

thats a pretty big walleye for a pond.

I was using rapala floaters in firetiger and perch colors. I was also using a zoom brush hog and "the worm". Topwaters work very well on the pond at dawn and dusk. Spinnerbaits don't work well for some reason.

The water is slightly stained.

Rapala Jointed minnow in Silver/Black is my go-to in the ponds i fish.

Well make sure if you catch this 31"-32", you put it in the livewell, get the local authorities to certify it, and you are now probably the New World Record holder If it's was a LM from Wisconsin, that would be just simply amazing And if it was a smallie I can't even fathom how much you would blow away the old record by Sounds like you have the making of a becoming a great fisherman

Im pretty sure it was a bass but there's a chance that it could have been a walleye.

This weekend i caught 22 bass at the pond. Three 20 plus inchers and the rest were somewhere between 10 and 17 1/2 inches. I caught 2 Crappie that were 15" and 16 1/2". I also caught two walleye 21" and 22". One of the walleye stuck me real good in the finger with its fin which made my finger bleed for ten minutes. It was a pretty good weekend but i could have caught more. i had over a dozen almost to shore and they all came off.

If you are catching 22 fish a trip to include 24inchers, and can sight fish 31 inch fish, we need your help not vise-versa.

I use Zoom Brush Hogs in watermelon, Hula Grubs in watermelon, Rapala original in firetiger, Rebel Poppers in the baby bass color, Buzzbaits in white, and the worm that has a built in spiral action which i get at Fleet Farm or certain Walmarts. The worm is purple with a red tail rigged with three hooks in it. All of my 20+ bass have come off of soft plastics.

Also do they have packages of the Zoom Brush hogs at the bass pro shops because i have been having to buy them individualy rigged carolina style?

Zoom trick worm in watermelon/red flake worked weedless over slop and dropped into holes....I did well with this one today at a nearby pond.

i no this might sound stupid but the best luck ive had in this situation is to bobber and worm fish with one rod near cover, and use a topwater along the bank with another i have caught 2, 3 pound bass and a five pounder fishing this way so id reccomend it

There are too many weeds to use a rattle trap, i'v tried it. Spinnerbaits dont work either.

I only caught ten bass this weekend, but i did catch a 26" walleye on a rapala floater. I was in a paddleboat and i forgot to bring the net so i had to paddle to shore to land it. lol. All the bass that i caught were between 11" and 16".

This weekend i caught 25 largemouth between 11" and 19" on soft plastic worms and hula grubs.

damn i find that hard to believe, that many huge fish. 23 inch long bass, and a 9 inches longer one. crazy man. Nice job, tose are some big fish. i think i am going to move to wisconsin
